Travelling to Inveraray Jail is easy...
  • From Glasgow take the A82 North along Loch Lomond to Tarbert and then take the A83 round the head of Loch Fyne to Inveraray. Allow one and a half hours.
  • From Oban take the A85 North to Connel, Taynuilt and Loch Awe.Turn Right onto the A819 to Inveraray. Allow about one hour.

Did You KnowDid You Know?In Inveraray Jail most male prisoners made herring nets or picked oakum. Some with special skills were employed at shoemaking, tailoring or joinery work. Female prisoners picked oakum, knitted stockings or sewed.
